Luke 14:25-35
How important is your walk with Christ? Have you made a real commitment or is it just a trial basis.
Does everything else take second place to God?
In Luke 14 Jesus says you must be willing to forsake all you have to be His disciple. That doesn’t mean you have to give everything up, but what you have should not hold you back from doing what God wants you to do.
It does cost you to be a disciple. Jesus said you should consider the cost and make sure you have what it takes. It takes prayer, studying the Bible, and applying what you learn to your daily living. What it takes is real commitment!
When you consider something on a trial basis you usually have no intention of making it your choice. In life we start a lot of things and have no intentions of finishing them.
Deciding to follow Christ should not be taken lightly. It should be a real commitment just as ones commitment to marriage should be. Some people enter into marriage with the attitude, “If things are not like I want them to be, if my spouse is not what I want him/her to be, I will just divorce them.” Marriage is a work in progress. We have to learn about our husband or wife therefore you also have to be willing to learn about Christ to be His disciple.
When you become a Christian, a Disciple of Christ, you should realize you may have hard times but you are going to stick with it. If you are not a commited Christian, you are pretty much useless like salt with no flavor. So be salty because salt with flavor makes things so much better.
I John 5:5 – He who overcomes………You cannot overcome if you have not had any adversities…………Don’t give up! It is worth the struggle. I John 5:5 says who is he that overcometh the world, but he that believeth that Jesus is The Son of God?
